Title: Quantum error correction and fault tolerance: an overview
Abstract: Quantum computing is a new model of computation that harnesses quantum laws of nature to enable new types of algorithms, not efficiently possible on traditional computer. It is a rapidly growing area that receives a lot of attention these days. Quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation are crucial aspects of building a scalable quantum computer that would be useful for solving real-world problems. In this talk I will introduce quantum error correction and fault-tolerance and the challenges they introduce compared to their classical counterparts. After that the winners of the Quantum Error Correction Schemes Contest will present their work on specific error-correction schemes.
